Welcome to our GARDEN POD Wiki . . .

This WIKI has been created by students who have participated in the Garden Pod. Our garden has been up and running for about a year now. No doubt you have been fortunate to sample some of the fresh & organically grown herbs and vegies from the garden beds and you will most likely realise that home grown produce is delicious. All the produce has been grown, tended and harvested by the students. They have experimented with seeds, seedling and cuttings. We have cooked up a storm in the Food Tech kitchen and almost everyone was willing to try often unfamiliar vegies and herbs.

Students are learning to get their hands dirty. They have done soil PH tests, added composts, manures and lime to sweeten the soil. We have started to compost garden refuse and Michael L has a worm farm up and running. Some of our boys planted up an Asian Garden packed full of delights such as red carrots, Vietnamese Mint, Lemongrass, Chilli, Bok Choy, Red Dragon carrots, Japanese radishes. Our cabbages were fabulous and the Silverbeet and Rainbow Chard keep on going!

Spring is keeping us busy. . . lots of pot plants and they are looking great! Check out our October page for what's happening this month and what the students have been up to.

We will have to move our garden to a permanent site next year. This is really exciting! We will also be able to start a rotatation system for the garden beds, thus exposing our students to the various types of crops, green manure and the importance of keeping the soil healthy.

We are also aiming to have our first PLANT SALE this Spring and the students have been busy potting up by division, cuttings and seedlings.

Thanks everyone for your support and I hope our garden evolves into a productive, creative and relaxing space for our school community.
